Greetings! A little bit about me before we start our game.
I am currently a creative writing major. I have always loved to write, but the 20-year-old me decided to go in a different direction because she was impatient and didn’t think she was good enough. The 41-year-old me thinks that girl was stupid and is now attempting to rectify the biggest mistake of my life.
I’m taking classes online for a bachelor’s in creative writing, which leaves me precious little time to actually creatively write. I am trying to change that, too. We’ll see how it goes. I'm in the home stretch and my first book is finished. My second is rounding third base and heading for home.
In my writing classes, professors have stressed the importance of blogging. The bloggers I read have stressed the importance of blogging, and some very successful authors recommend blogging. So, I’ll give it a try, despite the fact that I know no one’s going to read this for a while and it’s just going to hang out there in cyberspace. I doubt I’ll be a good blogger either, but we’ll see about that, as well.
A little bit about me: As I said, I’m 41 years old. I currently live in the Richmond, VA area and am originally from Northern NJ. My husband, son and I moved down here for my husband’s job. It’s beautiful and freaking hot. There will be times when, I promise you, my Jersey-mouth will come out. If you don’t like that, I suggest you not subscribe. I won’t say my posts will be profanity laden, but it’ll sneak in. I don’t hide who I am. What you read is what you get with me.
I’m addicted to Once Upon a Time and Outlander. I love Aaron Sorkin, but I confess that I haven’t been able to actively watch Newsroom. I also read Nora Roberts, Melissa Foster, John Irving, Anne Fortier, Maya Banks, Stephen King (when I’m in the mood to get the shit scared out of myself), Courtnay Milan, Julie Garwood, JK Rowling, Heather Graham and other random authors along the way. My current favorite books are Juliet by Anne Fortier (run, don’t walk to you favored book distributor and GET IT) and The Great Gatsby.
I listen to Dave Matthews Band, Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Muse, Sheryl Crowe – you know what, here’s what I don’t listen to: rap and electronica. Anything else usually goes – at least once.
On the advice of John Locke - not direct advice, you see, I don’t know the guy - I don’t plan to do too much blogging about writing. I am in no way an expert. I’m just a girl that does it. Let me correct myself, I don’t plan on blogging about HOW to write, or the mechanics of it, etc. I will probably blog about my process along the way.
So, that is me. And we’ll see where, if anywhere at all, this goes.
Thanks for stopping by!
